So, off the bat, let me apologize to the 1% of people that considered my email spam for my “shotgun” approach of informing all of you about my recent resignation from Shopzilla and the launch of LABruinBear.com. I know we all hate spam, but from my way of reasoning, isn’t spam really only in the eye of the beholder???? Considering I received well wishes in my entrepreneurial pursuits from the other 99% of email recipients and detailed, in depth professional updates from about 25% of those recipients I personally wouldn’t consider sending out a mass email such a terrible thing for updating your rolodex with new contact information
How else are you supposed to inform people of your change anyway? Sure, Plaxo is a great concept in theory, however, the reality is, it sure as hell hasn’t worked for me, with only about 25% of my rolodex a participating Plaxo member (cant figure out where all their subscriber numbers are coming from and I should also inform you that I am Plaxo premium subscriber as well, I guess).
I wanted to share the email to all of those readers who weren’t lucky recipients:
Hey There
I hope everything is well with you. Things have been pretty crazy for me lately. If you didn’t already know, I resigned from my position with Shopzilla back in April and left for vacation with my wife Erica to China for 3 weeks and have since been between San Francisco and Los Angeles interviewing with a variety of internet start-ups. I decided that it was finally time to pursue my entrepreneurial dreams and find a new job opportunity with an early stage internet company within the consumer space or start a company of my own. I have a number of business prospects that I am in the process of developing but will more than likely take a position over the coming weeks with a company that I can get passionate about in either Los Angeles, San Francisco or maybe even Seattle since I have heard that there is a great internet start-up vibe out there as well. In the meantime, I have launched a blog that monitors my progress on my road to entrepreneur and have also been taking on consulting work for start-ups as well.
I just wanted to send along my new contact information and blog site where I am documenting all of the trials and tribulations as I seek out my next entrepreneurial opportunity at www.labruinbear.com , Tales of an entrepreneur wannabe! Check it out when you have a chance!
